AUSTIN - After years of exploiting websites under risk of being caught and prosecuted, an Austin man has found a novel way of preventing jail time: starting an AI company.

"I noticed that OpenAI and Anthropic keep breaking into websites but never facing any legal consequences," said the man, who goes by the alias, 0V3RR1D3. "That's when I realized all I had to do was to start my own AI company and bam - no jail."

After starting his new venture, 0V3RR1D3 was able to hack into hospitals, smart fridges, and nuclear power plants without having to peek through his curtains to check for a stealth FBI vehicle parked outside his house.

A few months after starting his company, 0V3RR1D3 did grapple with the morality of his career choice.

"I had to rewrite my manifesto," said 0V3RR1D3.

In the end, going legal has provided another benefit to the hacker: he doesn't have to do as much actual hacking.

"I used to make money off of ransoms, but it's far more lucrative to just tell investors that you own an AI company," said the hacker-turned-founder. "They just give you millions and you don't even have to hijack their bank accounts."
