DENVER - A local man was stoked Tuesday after he successfully tapped his credit card on the exact right spot of the payment terminal on the very first try.

"Every machine is different. It's like an invisible whack-a-mole trying to figure out precisely where to tap the card," said Jake Thompkins, who was getting some early holiday shopping in.

"Why are all the machines so different? Why can't we standardize them?" asked a lady standing nearby.

When asked how he was going to commemorate the moment, Jake said that he was going to treat himself to an enormous, sugary latte.

Unfortunately, the NFC antenna on the coffee shop's machine was broken and they had to slide his card through the magnetic stripe reader instead.

"Now I understand how hard it is for athletes to retire at their peak," said Thompkins.
